Ember Hill to lead staff cadets this summer Published 12:49 pm Friday, July 10, 2026 Warrant Officer Second Class (WO2) Ember Hill from Fernie, British Columbia, from 279 Elk Valley Air Cadet Squadron and has been appointed as the Warrant Officer First Class (WO1) for the Technology and Digital Learning Centre for this summer. As the WO1 for TDLC for the summer of 2026, it is WO1 Hill’s responsibility to lead nearly two dozen staff cadets and ensure they have the knowledge and resources and help they will need to teach their respective courses and lead the junior cadets.

WO1 Hill is a Level 5 cadet within her squadron and has held quite a few leadership positions within the squadron, including deputy parade commander, cadet correspondent, and administration warrant officer. Hill recently graduated from Fernie Secondary School, and hopes her role this summer will help her to gain knowledge and skills that she can use in her studies of Theatre Production at MacEwan University this coming school year. The Cadet Program is open to all youth between the ages of 12-18 years old and develops confident, self-sufficient leaders who form lasting friendships and are engaged in their communities, while promoting physical fitness, healthy living and fostering an interest in activities in the Canadian Armed Forces.
