EPCOR says it is working to repair a sinkhole in Edmonton’s Lauderdale community. Reports of the sinkhole started coming in on Saturday, July 11, and EPCOR said they quickly acted to secure the area for public safety. Since the sinkhole was secured, it has reportedly grown, but the situation is being monitored while officials work on a repair strategy.

EPCOR says they are looking to start repairing a large pipe that conveys flows to Edmonton’s Gold Bar Wastewater Treatment Plant, before the road can be repaired and reopened. Open Gallery 5 items “The first step will see us deploy equipment to re-route these flows to maintain reliable service for our customers and enable the safe repair of the pipe below ground. Once the repair is complete, the roadway will reopen,” said EPCOR in a statement to CityNews.
