Foothills County issues fire restriction

Current and expected weather condition are causing the fire danger to increase in Foothills County.

Higher risk has prompted a burning restriction in Foothills County. The County issued a fire restriction on July 15 due to current and expected weather conditions. Burn permits will not be issued and existing permits are cancelled during the restriction, the County said.

The restriction is not a fire ban and some burning activities are permitted. The restriction allows for residential fire pits and campfires in campgrounds, gas or propane stoves and barbecues, charcoal briquette and solid fuel barbecues, chimineas, indoor fireplaces, wood pellet smokers and incinerators for farm or acreage use. Residents should use caution when burning, the County said.

The County recommends using water to soak the area immediately around fire pits.
