Forest fire reported in Lake Superior Provincial Park

The 0.7 hectare fire, which is not under control, is on the eastern shore of Lake Superior and is approximately one kilometre south of Laughing Brook Creek.

There were two new wildfires reported in the Northeast Region on Monday. - Wawa 15 (WAW015) is 0.7 hectares in size and is not under control. This fire is located on the eastern shore of Lake Superior in Lake Superior Provincial Park approximately one kilometre south of Laughing Brook Creek.

- Chapleau 10 (CHA010) is 2.1 hectares in size and is under control. This fire is located approximately one kilometre southeast of Sunnyside Beach Road, north of the Sault Ste Marie Airport. As of Monday evening, there were 29 active wildland fires in the Northeast Region.

Of those fires, one was not under control, one was being held, two were under control and 25 were being observed. View the new and active fire situation and restricted fire zones. In order to dispose of yard waste and woody debris, we encourage you to use methods such as composting or using your local landfill. If you must burn, follow Ontario’s Outdoor Burning Regulations. Fires are to be ignited no sooner than two hours before sunset and are to be extinguished no later than two hours after sunrise.
