Article content Despite a small hiccup of inclement weather, the City of Fort Saskatchewan celebrated an exciting and eventful Canada Day. July 1, 2026, marks the 159th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation. On Canada Day cities around the country celebrate with festivals, activities and concerts that bring the people of the nation together.

Recommended Videos In Fort Saskatchewan there was a full day of Canada Day celebrations with fun, music, and community spirit. The day kicked off with an early morning pancake breakfast, sponsored by Dow and cooked by volunteers with the Fort Saskatchewan Fire Department. Following breakfast was the longtime favourite Canada Day tradition, the downtown parade.

Sponsored by Pembina, this year’s parade featured close to 100 entries and saw thousands of residents line the streets and cheer on all of the fun and creative parade entries. Activities that followed in Legacy Park included entertainment on the Bandshell stage, inflatable obstacle courses, petting zoo, caricature artists, and the vintage car show and shine. Residents also enjoyed free admission to the Fort Heritage Precinct, free transportation around the city, and were able to explore an abundance of vendors at the farmers’ market.
