Four people have been arrested following an alleged assault in Manitoba’s Westman Region that involved the victim being bound with duct tape. According to RCMP, the incident took place around 11:20 p.m. on Monday when a 19-year-old man was attacked while preparing to leave the RM of Killarney-Turtle Mountain in his car. Police allege multiple male suspects held down the victim, wrapped him in a blanket, and duct-taped his ankles and hands.
Mounties said the suspects then assaulted the 19-year-old with a stick and took his two cellphones and small knives. The incident ended with the suspects loading the victim into the back of an off-road vehicle and dropping him off near a wooded area. Police note three of the suspects were partially masked.
After the suspects fled the scene, the victim managed to free himself, get back home and call police. Four suspects between the ages of 16 and 31 have been arrested and are facing multiple charges that have not been proven in court. All four suspects were released on release orders.
The investigation continues.
