1959-2026 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Fryer. Bill passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026 after a long and painful battle with cancer. Bill was predeceased by his parents and two siblings and is survived by his brother and three sisters and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him and who will remember him forever in their hearts.
Though shorter than any would have wished, Bill lived a full life. He grew up in North Bay and after a short stint in the Navy he worked in retail for many years rising to become manager with Kinney Shoes. He switched gears and trained as a technician working primarily on commercial printers and photocopiers first in London Ont.
with Canon and later in North Bay with Northern Business Solutions. Bill retired a short two years ago. Bill possessed a wonderful sense of humour and was the instigator of many practical jokes on family members.
He loved to cook and spent a lot of time in the kitchen where besides tasty meals and baked goods, every fall he would make jams and jellies that he shared with friends and family. Bill also excelled at woodworking, building everything from furniture to intricate clocks to Christmas ornaments which every member of his family will treasure forever. Bill had a large community of friends not only in North Bay but throughout Northern Ontario.
In many ways his friends were also family to Bill and they provided support and encouragement to him. We would like to thank the staffs at North Bay Regional Health Centre and the Nipissing Serenity Hospice for the compassionate and excellent care that they provided to Bill during his final days. Online condolences can be made at www.hillsidefuneral.ca Bill was taken from us all too soon.
He will be missed.
