A Gatineau, Que., police officer is facing an impaired driving charge. In a news release, the Gatineau Police Service (SPVG) said the officer was pulled over by the Sûreté du Québec Saturday night. The officer was not on duty at the time.

The officer was released with a court date and has been reassigned to administrative duties, police said. Quebec’s security ministry has also been informed. The officer was not identified.

Last week, Gatineau police said an officer was charged in connection with an alleged assault and has been suspended with pay. “The SPVG management wishes to reiterate that it requires its police officers to adhere to the highest standards of ethics and professional conduct, and that it is committed to implementing measures and processes to foster a genuine ethical culture within its organization,” a news release said, translated from French.
