June 3, 1957 – July 13, 2026 Passed away peacefully at home with his dogs Beau and Odie, on July 13th, 2026. The man who wore many hats, he was a proud father to his two boys, Corey & Coddy (Emma), who carried on the family name of being equipment operators. He was a proud grandfather to all his grandchildren, Leah, Lincoln, Harper and Lennox, who put a permanent smile on his face when they walked through the door.

He was a devoted husband for 35 years to his beloved wife Kim (passed November 2023). She kept him in check with all his antics. Richard had the biggest, most honest heart and would help anyone with any issue - no questions asked, and no judgement.

If you needed a place to stay, there’s a bed. If you were hungry, grab a plate. He was a man of few words, but if you truly wanted to learn, he would show you everything he knew, right beside you.

For over 40 years, he was an inspirational man and mentor in the construction industry. Everyone would say “Here’s smiley, in his Cadillac”, when he would bring his backhoe to the beer store on a hot summer day. He showed us that it wasn’t the size of the table, it was who was sitting at it.

If you were at the table, you were family, no matter what. Always stay humble, do the best you possibly can that day, and do it smiling. Dad, Grandpa, Ricky, Elvis, Smiley...it’s not goodbye, it’s I’ll see you around ‘My boy.

Thank you to Abelson Veterinary Services for always being kind to him and his dogs. A Celebration of life will be held at 112 Island Rd, Goulais River, ON, August 8, 2026 starting at 2:00 pm. The family asks that any memorial donations be made to a Trust Fund started for the future care of Beau and Odie.

Etransfers can be made to [email protected] or cheque payable to Corey Grant. Visit www.osullivanfuneralhome.com to leave condolences for the family. Arrangements entrusted to O’Sullivan Funeral Home (215 St. James St., Sault Ste.

Marie, ON, P6A 1P7, 705-759-8456).
