Whether you are a resident of Cambridge, either past or present, this weekend sees an opportunity to celebrate 125 years of history at ‘The Great Hespeler Reunion Festival’. The reunion, billed as “a Gathering of Friends,” will pay homage to 125 years of Hespeler history to bring together those who have called the area home. The event began as the “Old Boys Reunion” in 1906, and the celebration was resurrected into the current iteration in 1996.

The 2026 iteration of the celebration will feature a variety of food, music, activities and spectacles for young and old. Highlights of the event schedule for the weekend kick off on Saturday afternoon. At 2:00 p.m., young ones can head off to a “foam party” at Cambridge’s Forbes Park.

Adults can also make their way to St. James Church at the same time for a euchre tournament. Forbes Park will play host to a variety of events throughout the day, with their “party at the park” event taking place from noon until 10:00 p.m. on Friday. Included in the party will be live music, a beverage garden, a “beard growing contest”, and food trucks for those looking for a bite to eat.

Hespeler’s Victoria Park will host the rest of the fun on Sunday, beginning with a “ladies auxiliary breakfast” at 9 a.m. Events through the day will include more food trucks, a Hespeler Minor Softball home run derby, music in the park from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m, and a drone show to cap off the reunion festivities at 10:00 p.m. Sunday night.
