Hamilton Police Identify Homicide Victim and Appeal for Public Assistance

The Hamilton Police Service Homicide Unit has identified the victim in Wednesday’s homicide investigation as 29-year-old Taranpreet Singh Sidhu of Brampton, Ontario. At approximately 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, emergency services responded to a report of an unresponsive person in a culvert near the north end of Fruitland Road. Mr. Sidhu was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Following the initial investigation, detectives have confirmed Mr. Sidhu’s death is the result of a homicide. Investigators are not releasing the cause of death at this time as the investigation remains ongoing. Hamilton Police are confident Mr. Sidhu was not killed in the area where he was found.

Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death. The Hamilton Police Service continues to work closely with the Peel Regional Police Service, which has provided investigative resources to assist the Hamilton Police Homicide Unit. Investigators have conducted an extensive video canvass in the area where Mr. Sidhu was located and continue to review surveillance and digital evidence while interviewing witnesses to establish his movements leading up to his death.

While detectives continue to pursue all investigative avenues, they are not prepared to release information regarding the vehicle believed to have been used to transport Mr. Sidhu. Mr. Sidhu immigrated to Canada from India in 2022. Since arriving in Canada, he lived in Brampton and Halifax while working as a truck driver.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who had contact with Mr. Sidhu or has information about his movements leading up to his death to contact police. Detectives are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have surveillance, dash camera, or doorbell camera footage that could assist the investigation.
