It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Harold Allan Hammerstrom, who passed away on July 8, 2026, at the age of 86. Hal was born on June 6, 1940, in South Porcupine, Ontario. Throughout his life, he was devoted to his family and will be remembered for his kindness, strength, and the many memories he created with those who knew and loved him.

Harold is lovingly remembered by his wife, Marie Hammerstrom; his children, Will (Pauline) Hammerstrom and Inger (Kent) Scales; the mother of his children, Frances Westgarth; his stepdaughters, Linda (Brian) Daniher, Lee-Ann (Claude) Lefebvre, and Lisa Daniher; his brother, Mike Hammerstrom; his many cherished grandchildren, nieces and nephews, too numerous to mention. He was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Peggy Hammerstrom; his beloved grandson, Vincent; and his stepdaughter, Lori (Daniher) Gravelle. Harold’s love for his family and the impact he had on those around him will be remembered always.

His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. The Celebration of Life for our dad, Hal Hammerstrom will be held on July 30th, 2026 in the Regency Room at The Empire Living Centre 425 Fraser St., North Bay, Ontario from 1-4pm. As we gather to remember our dad, we invite you to bring a favorite story, cherished memory, or funny moment to share.

Your memories will help us celebrate the remarkable man he was and the lasting impact he had on all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly invites you to consider a memorial donation to the Alzheimer Society or North Bay Regional Health Centre, in gratitude for the exceptional care, kindness, and compassion shown towards my dad and our family. Arrangements entrusted to Basic Cremation Services.
