Source Homicide detectives are investigating after a man’s body was found Wednesday morning in a culvert along the edge of Lake Ontario in Stoney Creek. Hamilton Police initially deemed the death “suspicious” after the body was discovered by a passerby at the north end of Fruitland Rd. around 8:15 a.m., but a homicide investigator didn’t mince words when he spoke to reporters at the scene hours later. “It was quite clear as soon as the police and emergency services arrived on scene that the male was deceased,” Det. Staff-Sgt. Robert DiIanni said Wednesday. “The circumstances in which he was found prompted the Homicide Unit to get involved.” “It was not an accident,” he added. DiIanni explained the body was found “on the rocks, partially submerged in the water” by a citizen who was in the area during a break from work. “It’s a sewer system that flows into the lake,” he said...
