A crew of firefighters were just starting their day when they got a call for a house fire on East Chezzetcook Road in Halifax Regional Municipality. The initial call was for smoke in the air, but when the team arrived at the home, it was engulfed in flames. Engine 23 was the first on scene and quickly called for additional resources while they prepared a fast attack on the structure.

The flames had burned through the roof of the single-family home before firefighters arrived. Bringing hoses around the building, crews attempted to tamp down the flames. After two and a half hours of dousing the blaze, crews got it under control.

Halifax Professional Fire Fighters, the union, said in a release that teams were also focused on protecting nearby structures and the forest from catching.
