An international food festival brought dozens of vendors to downtown Halifax this weekend.

The International Food Festival brought dozens of vendors to downtown Halifax this weekend. The event was held at the Brewery Market and was hosted by the Pop Up Market. From Venezuela to Indonesia, popular dishes from all over the globe were on display in an effort to support and celebrate different cultures.

“It was absolutely fantastic. Halifax really showed up. We have 14 local vendors.

We have a few artisans and live music all day,” says Courtney Ferguson, the event director and owner of the Pop Up Market. “It’s about supporting the local food community. We have so many different cultures represented here in Halifax.

It’s really nice to get them all together in a way that we can support local and still eat yummy food.” Download the CTV News App for breaking news alerts and video on all the top stories Sandra Garcia, the owner of Naguara, a Venezuelan cuisine, says the event helps give small businesses a boost. “We need a lot of events like this because we are growing and sometimes people don’t know that we are here, and that’s a good opportunity for us,” she says.
