Kamloops region under air quality warning with wildfire smoke expected to roll in Smoke expected to return An air quality warning has been issued for Kamloops and the South Thompson region as wildfire smoke is expected to cause poor air quality and reduced visibility. Environment Canada and the B.C. Ministry of Environment and Parks issued the yellow-level warning Wednesday, saying the region is likely to be impacted by smoke over the next 24 to 48 hours. Officials said smoke conditions can change quickly and vary considerably from hour to hour.

Smoke drifting into the city is coming from the Brunswick Complex wildfires burning near Boston Bar. People are being advised to postpone or reduce strenuous outdoor activity and spend time indoors in a space with cleaner air until the warning ends. Those more likely to be affected by smoke include people with lung or heart conditions, pregnant people, infants and young children, seniors and anyone with a chronic condition or acute illness.

Environment Canada said high levels of wildfire smoke can pose a health risk regardless of age or health status.
