Kelowna home sustains serious damage following fire, no injuries Published 11:41 pm Tuesday, July 14, 2026 UPDATE: Kelowna Fire Captain Peter Stantic says a home was heavily damaged after flames ripped through the residence at 2259 Aberdeen Street on Tuesday. Crews arrived on scene just after 11 a.m. to visible heavy smoke and flames coming from the two-storey home. Firefighters extinguished the blaze with an aggressive attack, according to Stantic, however, the house sustained serious damage.
“All the residents of the home were not home at the time of the fire and are accounted for,” said Stantic. There were no injuries reported from the incident. The fire is currently under investigation.
UPDATE: 12:55 p.m. The Kelowna Fire Department (KFD) remains on scene at 2259 Aberdeen Street to complete overhaul operations. KFD says fire investigators are on scene and will begin their investigation once overhaul activities are complete.
“There have been no reported injuries; however, the residence has sustained significant damage throughout. Emergency Support Services (ESS) has been activated to assist displaced residents,” said KFD assistant fire chief Jason Bedell. KFD responded with three engines, one rescue truck, one ladder truck, and command staff.
ORIGINAL: 11:49 A.M. Black smoke could be seen rising from the windows of a house in Kelowna on Tuesday morning. The blaze broke out in the South Pandosy neighbourhood at 2259 Aberdeen Street, prompting a timely response from the Kelowna Fire Department, Kelowna RCMP and Fortis BC. A reporter at the scene says two fire trucks responded, as well as multiple police officers.
Emergency crews on site have closed Aberdeen from Glenwood Avenue to Rose Avenue as they assess the situation. The cause of the house fire is unknown at this time, but Black Press Media will update the story when more information becomes available.
