Article content Let Canadians speak Now that Prime Minister Mark Carey has shown his Liberal government will be treating Alberta with the respect it has previously not always had, perhaps the time has come for Canadians, who do not reside in Alberta, to express their feelings about that province. One option for an official referendum question could read as follows. ‘Do you want Alberta to be allowed to remain a province of Canada, or should the Government of Canada commence the legal process required under the Canadian Constitution to hold a binding federal referendum on whether or not Alberta should be kicked out of Canada?’

The results would be a no-brainier, but it might give pause for some separatist-minded Albertans to reflect on their ‘go-it-alone’ position, which in many cases is rooted in real grievances against previous Liberal governments. Trudeau is gone. Let’s bury the past.
