Mounties out of Brooks, Alta., say a man has been shot and killed in an altercation with officers. It happened Wednesday around 4 p.m. in Greenbrook Village. According to the RCMP, “officers were conducting warrant apprehension efforts” at a home.
The RCMP said “a wanted male” tried to flee, then produced a weapon while confronting police. “An officer discharged their service weapon,” the RCMP said. “Life-saving efforts by officers were unsuccessful, and the suspect succumbed to his injuries.
“No officers were injured.” The province’s police watchdog—the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT)—has been called in to investigate. The RCMP said it will conduct an internal review of the incident as well.
