1938 - 2026 It is with profound sadness and much love that we announce the passing of David John Margetts. Our beloved father passed away on July 10, 2026 surrounded by his family.

Born on December 27, 1938 in Torquay, England he was the son of Stella and William Margetts, and brother to Ann and Robert. David lived a full and meaningful life. He dedicated his life to helping others; always putting everyone else’s needs above his own working as a physician in Elliot Lake for more than 40 years.

His compassion and passion for medicine touched the lives of many generations of young mothers in Elliot Lake, delivering over 2800 babies within the community. More than his professional accomplishments, he will be remembered for his immense love for his family, his dry sense of humor, his patience and his kind, gentle nature. He loved the water and enjoyed spending his weekends sailing.

Both David and Chris were longstanding members of the North Channel Yacht Club. David was a loving and devoted husband to Christine (nee Pain) for 65 years. Chris will miss him greatly as will his loving children, Jennie (Denis), Carol, Michael (Brigitte) and Sarah (Serge); his adored grandchildren, Amie (Morgan), Jessica (Nigel), Dan (Merissa), Brent (Caity), Brian (Krystal), Laura (Cory), Gareth and Alyssa; and his great grandchildren Sybil, Phoebe, Sloane, Ash and Theodore.

He was a wonderful father, a guiding light, and our biggest supporter. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association; a cause David cared deeply about. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Leyden’s Funeral Home in Calgary, Alberta.
