A new long-term care home has officially opened its doors in Lower Sackville, N.S.

A new long-term care home has officially opened its doors in Lower Sackville, N.S. Rosecrest The Meadows is a modern 144-bed home that has a single room and private washroom for each resident. It also has occupational therapy and physiotherapy space, a hair salon, a community connection room and an outdoor garden space. More than 100 residents have already moved into the facility and the rest are expected over the coming weeks.

Download the CTV News App for breaking news alerts and video on all the top stories “We are already seeing the difference that modern, private rooms and thoughtfully designed spaces can make in their daily lives,” said Barbara Adams, Nova Scotia’s minister of seniors and long-term care, in a provincial release . “With senior populations growing across the country, the need for long-term care continues to increase. Here in Nova Scotia, every new home we open means more access to care and more spaces where people can live in comfort, with dignity.”

The province says construction is currently underway on more than 2,000 single long-term care rooms. The release says seven new and replacement homes are also expected to open before March 31, 2027. For more Nova Scotia news, visit our dedicated provincial page
