It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Patrick Niganabe at North Shore Health Network, Blind River on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at the age of 81. Son of the late John and Agatha (nee Recollet).

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Patrick Niganabe at North Shore Health Network, Blind River on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at the age of 81. Son of the late John and Agatha (nee Recollet). Father of Patrick, Aldric, Bridget and Melissa.

Loving grandfather of 7. Special Mishomis to Jordan Nanabush. Cherished younger brother of Francis (Osawabine) baa, Alphonse baa, James baa, Margaret (Earl), his twin Mike baa and his baby sister Mary Jane (Marcel).

Special uncle of many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his faithful dog Chumbly. In Pat’s early years, he worked as a Fire Ranger for the MNR.

He was part of a specialized team that protected our forests and communities from wildfires. A special Miigwetch to Susan for all the support, care and kindness you provided Pat with. Also thank you to the Palliative Team at the North Shore Health Network for their compassion.

Friends and family are invited to gather at the Mississauga First Nation Cultural Centre (Park Rd.) on Monday, July 20, 2026 from 11 am until time of ceremony at 3 pm. Interment to follow at St. Edward’s Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Menard Funeral Home.

Pat loved telling stories and those stories will live on until we meet again. Soar like an eagle. Baamaapii.
