One week in the books for 20 medical students at expanded University of Lethbridge program Twenty students with the Southern Alberta Medical Program have completed their first week of training as part of a new full-time course being offered on the University of Lethbridge campus. While, historically, becoming a doctor was something done right out of high school or university, the program’s associate dean, Dr. Richard Buck, concedes not so much nowadays. “A lot of folks have had previous careers, including a few folks who have been nurses before or pharmacists,” Dr. Buck points out.

“There’s a physiotherapist in our group that have decided to move on and become MDs, so that is phenomenal and we’re happy to have them join us.”
