Survey will help guide future stewardship and decision-making

Online survey open on biodiversity in Maple Ridge Published 3:00 pm Thursday, July 16, 2026 An online survey is open to help the City of Maple Ridge to better understand, protect, and monitor biodiversity. The city wants public input on what places, ecosystems, and species matter to residents of Maple Ridge, and what areas they thing the city should protect or restore.

“Biodiversity is everywhere – until it’s not. It is up to us and the decisions we make to ensure biodiversity is protected and restored throughout Maple Ridge,” said the city online. The city is developing a Biodiversity Framework, a project they began in March, to better understand local biodiversity and track ecological change over time.

An open house was held mid-June. For those who could not attend, the city has posted the display boards online. The survey is part of the information that will identify the places, species, ecosystems, and priorities, to help guide future stewardship and decision-making.

“This project supports the City’s climate action and environmental stewardship priorities, recognizing that biodiversity is important not only for healthy ecosystems, but also for community health and wellbeing, access to nature, and quality of life in Maple Ridge,” said the city. The survey will be open until Friday, July 31. To share your input go to: Engage.MapleRidge.ca/BiodiversityFramework.
