OPP make arrest of Bracebridge resident on Highway 94 for impaired driving and open alcohol and cannabis in vehicle

On a patrol North Bay OPP says they observed a vehicle weaving within its lane and crossing the centre line.

Article content On July 15, at approximately 6:00 p.m., members of the North Bay OPP were conducting patrols on Highway 94 in Callander when they observed a vehicle weaving within its lane and crossing the centre line. 2 Story continues below Article content Officers conducted a traffic stop and observed signs of alcohol impairment.

The driver was arrested and transported to the North Bay OPP Detachment for further testing. During a search incident to arrest, officers also located open alcohol and cannabis within the vehicle. Article content Recommended Videos Article content As a result of the investigation, a 63-year-old resident of Bracebridge was charged with impaired driving, having open alcohol and cannabis readily available in a vehicle.

The accused is scheduled in court on a later date, received a 90-day licence suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. OPP remind everyone that impaired driving is entirely preventable. If you plan to consume alcohol or drugs, arrange a safe ride home before you leave Article content
