OPP seized firearms and ammunition in Wallenstein last week and a 67-year-old man is facing charges. Several OPP units from Wellington County and West Region executed a search warrant at a residence on July 9 relating to a weapons and intimate partner violence investigation. Officers reportedly found five firearms and various ammunition, with a 67-year-old Wallenstein man charged.

The alleged offences include unauthorized possession of a firearm and careless storage of a firearm. OPP say the accused was released from custody and will appear in Guelph court at a later date. Provincial police are also highlighting available community supports for victims of intimate partner violence.
