Photographer shares how to grow native plants and capture them on camera

Dave Jagodzinski, a commercial photographer, will show gardeners how to introduce native plants into their landscapes and photograph them—plus explain why the insects that live in those plants matter.

A professional photographer will show Morris -area gardeners how to grow native plants and capture them on camera at a free presentation Wednesday, July 15th at 5:30 p.m. at the Morris Area Public Library, 604 Liberty Street, Morris. Non-members are welcome, and the event concludes with a door prize drawing. Dave Jagodzinski, a commercial photographer for 43 years, will discuss why he fell in love with Illinois prairies and how to photograph native plants and the insects that depend on them.

His slideshow will feature images from his work documenting prairie ecosystems across the region. “Dave’s photography will inspire others to launch their own journey by following their passion, not the crowd,” the Morris Area Garden Club said in announcing the event. Jagodzinski grew up in the southwestern Chicago suburbs and has spent decades documenting the natural world through both nature and street photography.
