'Piece of film history': Metro Vancouver home for sale was set for 'Hot Tub Time Machine,' 'American Pie' franchise

It's a very unique house that looks like a log cabin.

It looks like the perfect spot to wind down after a day on the slopes — but it isn't located in Whistler Village or any mountainous area, for that matter. A home in Anmore that went up on the market recently looks exactly like a Whistler-esque ski cabin and has been the location for several well-known productions over the years. The 4,464-square-foot home was built in 1999 (27 years old) and is listed for $2,949,900.

Some of the productions include: American Pie Presents: The Book of Love (2009), a direct-to-DVD instalment in the American Pie franchise; Hot Tub Time Machine (the house was used as a stand-in for a Big White ski home); and Young & Reckless (2016) (it was the last episode in the five-part comedy web series) (see gallery above for Young & Reckless set). But its cinematic history goes back even further than these features and TV shows over the past 15 years. Previously, the home was used in Hallmark features, commercials and small independent films, although these were done with the previous owner.

Metro Vancouver home is part of 'film history' Real estate agent Jaden Narduzzi says the one-of-a-kind log home in Anmore is lauded for its "quality log home craftsmanship, creeks and waterfalls," which aren't seen often together in Lower Mainland homes. "It's a piece of film history sitting quietly in the middle of the Tri-Cities, and I don't think many locals know it exists. It is a very short, five-minute walk to Buntzen Lake, a summer hot spot for many people," he explains.

The home is a 45-minute drive from Vancouver and is set on a one-acre property surrounded by lush forests, making it very private. It also has a "dramatic" 30-foot ceiling in the great room that juxtaposes the cosy fireplace, which is often featured in film productions. These features are "enhanced by rich hardwood floors, bespoke cabinetry, and premium appliances," according to the listing.

The home has five bedrooms, four full bathrooms, one partial bathroom and six parking spaces.
