The thieves broke into three businesses, smashing glass doors and windows and stealing items including cellular phones.

Campbell River RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two people believed to be connected to a series of break-ins and attempted break-ins at downtown Campbell River businesses early on Monday and Tuesday. Police released surveillance photos of the suspects. The thieves broke into three businesses, smashing glass doors and windows and stealing items including cellular phones, clothing, a hair dryer and baseball bats.

They also unsuccessfully targeted two other businesses, damaging their exteriors. “These incidents resulted in substantial property damage and losses to local businesses,” said B.C. RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Brett Urano.

“We are asking anyone who recognizes the individuals in the photographs or who has information about these break-ins to contact investigators.” Island District Forensic Identification Services is assisting in the investigation, police said. In the surveillance images, one suspect was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and dark shoes, while the other had on a light-coloured hooded sweatshirt, light-coloured sweatpants and dark shoes.
