From humble beginnings to a $610,000+ milestone in the fight against breast cancer By Angela Talbot On Saturday, July 11, more than 900 women motorcyclists from across Quebec, including many from the Eastern Townships , gathered in Saint-Hyacinthe for the 18th edition of the Ride de Filles, a powerful annual event that combines the thrill of the open road with a deep commitment to breast cancer research and support. Along the route, supporters lined the sidewalks, cheering loudly and waving signs as the riders passed, creating an emotional wave of solidarity that followed the group throughout the day.

A story that began with friendship and determination The Ride de Filles was born in 2009 out of a deeply personal mission. Sylvie Brisebois, the founder, organized the very first ride to support two close friends who were battling breast cancer. That inaugural year, just 50 women took part.

Together, they raised $6,243.48 for the Fondation cancer du sein du Québec. What started as a small, heartfelt gesture quickly grew into something much larger. Year after year, participation increased as word spread about this women-only ride dedicated to a cause that touches so many families.

By the time the event reached its 15th anniversary, it had transformed dramatically: more than 1,000 participants took part in a single year, raising a then-record $608,561.52. Since its creation, the Ride de Filles has now contributed well over $2 million — and according to some reports, the cumulative total has surpassed $3 million ,to breast cancer research, prevention, and support programs across Quebec. ...
