Rotaryfest scrubs car show, run, plans music Friday

The main stage and adjacent food court is planned to be open for Friday evening’s programming and the remainder of Saturday. We encourage the public to consider their personal safety, and review the Air Quality Health Index guidelines. Masks will be made available for those who choose to wear them.

At this point, the children’s area including crafts, activities, and inflatable park, will remain closed unless air quality reaches low risk levels. The Miracle Mile Colour Blast presented by YNCU has been cancelled due to the strenuous nature of the activity. The Wheels on the Water Car Show has also been cancelled.

It is hoped the Parade will be able to proceed on Saturday morning, but may be modified to limit risk to both participants and spectators. More information will be made available as final decisions are made. Community members who do choose to attend are asked to have patience as volunteers are being encouraged to follow safety guidelines and take frequent breaks.

“When we put on ROTARYFEST, it’s a way we can give back to the community for all the support they show us,” said Anthony Pucci – President of the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie. “While we hate to see elements of the festival have to be cancelled, we are weighing each decision to proceed or cancel carefully to try to continue to offer something to the community.” We continue to monitor the situation.

Should air quality deteriorate, further cancellations are possible. We will continue to provide daily updates at 9am and 12 noon as circumstances change.
