Article content Rocky View Schools (RVS) will receive new funding for the design of a Kindergarten to Grade 9 school in Airdrie, the province announced July 9. The new school in the Lanark community will serve 950 students, with the design funding announced at the same time as design funding for a 950-student high school in Chestermere. Recommended Videos “This announcement is another positive step for students and families in Airdrie and Chestermere,” said RVS Board Chair, Fiona Gilbert.
“Together with the two Kindergarten – Grade 9 schools already under construction in Airdrie and the Kindergarten – Grade 9 school with construction funding in Chestermere, these projects reflect the impact of strong advocacy, thoughtful planning and sustained investment. We are encouraged by the progress being made and the opportunities these new schools will create for students and families.” The province announced planning funds earlier this year for a new Catholic elementary and junior high in Airdrie.
RVS also received design funds for a new high school in Cochrane. RVS also received an allocation of five modular units for Ecole Airdrie Middle earlier this year. “Announcements like this demonstrate what can be accomplished when school communities, municipalities, the Board and provincial government work toward a shared goal,” said Gilbert.
“We appreciate the support these projects have received and are pleased to see years of planning and advocacy result in meaningful progress for students and families in Airdrie and Chestermere.” RVS currently has two projects under construction, a new 905 student K-9 school in South Windsong that is slated to be completed in 2027, and an expansion of Bow Valley High School in Cochrane that should be completed this year. Airdrie also has two RVS schools with funding commitments for construction, an 1,810 student high school in Southwinds planned to be completed in the Fall of 2029, and a 905 student K-9 school in Bayview.
