Setting up a portable projector usually involves a tedious routine of propping the device up with books, adjusting plastic dials, and hunting for a perfectly flat wall. Samsung wants to eliminate that frustration entirely. The company has officially launched the Samsung Freestyle+ in the US, a compact projector that leans heavily into automation to make big-screen setups completely seamless.
The device is currently available through Samsung’s website and select retail partners for $1,199.99. Smart alignment on any surface The defining upgrade of the Freestyle+ is its built-in intelligence. Samsung integrated a tool called 3D Auto Keystone, a feature the brand showcased earlier at CES 2026.
This technology allows the hardware to calculate depth and perspective instantly. If you project your movie onto a wrinkled bedsheet, an uneven bedroom corner, or an angled ceiling, the software automatically straightens out the image distortion without requiring manual configuration. The automatic alignment works alongside real-time autofocus and an upgraded Wall Calibration system.
This AI-powered “OptiScreen” color-matching sensor scans the tint of your wallpaper or paint. The it adjusts the projector’s brightness and color reproduction so your content doesn’t look washed out. Plus, an obstacle avoidance tool automatically shrinks and shifts the projection boundaries if physical objects, like light switches or hanging picture frames, get in the way.
Hardware and streaming options The device can push a Full HD image up to 100 inches in size. It delivers 430 ISO lumens of brightness and supports HDR10+ to ensure adequate contrast. For sound, the cylindrical chassis houses a 360-degree speaker system with dual passive woofers.
They can sync directly with external Samsung soundbars using Q-Symphony technology. The projector runs the same Smart Hub software found on Samsung’s main smart TV lineup. So, users can stream movies directly from Netflix or Disney+ without connecting a laptop.
It also features the Gaming Hub for cloud gaming services, Apple AirPlay 2 support, and the new Vision AI Companion, which integrates voice controls through Bixby and Gemini. The projector does not contain an internal battery. So, you still need a regular power outlet, a compatible USB-C battery pack, or Samsung’s dedicated optional battery base to take it outdoors.
