‘Silences and Solitudes’: Supporting animals in Fort St. James Published 3:17 pm Monday, July 13, 2026 On Friday, July 10, Pope Mountain Arts in Fort St. James hosted its “Silences and Solitudes” Art Exhibit Fundraiser in support of the FSJ Animal Care Team Society (FSJ ACTS). The exhibit features original photographs on canvas, transformed into diamond art by Mariusz Wesolowski. Inspired by his dedication to FSJ ACTS, the project aims to raise funds for the organization and showcases scenes from around the region.

The event includes an online silent auction, allowing visitors to bid while at the exhibit or from home. Natalie Grasslin, who performed on opening night, remarked, “It was a warm and amazing evening. Showing incredible FSJ photography combined with unique Diamond Art techniques, I had an awesome view from my perspective at the front.”

The Fort St. James Animal Care Team Society is highly active and continuously seeks animal food and money donations. It maintains an Amazon wishlist on its Facebook page for specific needs. The society is often present at community events, either fundraising or raising awareness about foster care requirements.

They regularly update their Facebook page with information about animals available for adoption or needing homes. Recently, FSJ ACTS participated in the Canada Day Pancake Breakfast at Nak’al Bun Elementary, raising an impressive $1,232.75 in donations for the animals in their care. They expressed gratitude on social media, stating, “Thank you to our ACTS members and volunteers who prepared and served breakfast on Canada Day for our community and to all who donated and enjoyed the yummy pancakes.”

To support the exhibit at Pope Mountain Arts, the auction runs from July 7 to 30. Pope Mountain Arts is open Tuesday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Additionally, those interested in adopting can check out Luvs Northern Animal Rescue for puppies ready to leave its care.
