Police found the suspect pinned under the forklift on Belmont Avenue

Stolen forklift joyride in Victoria leaves suspect in hospital Published 3:34 pm Tuesday, July 14, 2026 Walking down Belmont and Gladstone Avenues, one could see trails of vehicle fluids, damage to parked vehicles and disfigured trees and shrubs after a forklift joyride that left the suspect in the hospital. On July 14, around 11 a.m., VicPD says they received multiple reports of a man driving a forklift erratically between Blanshard Street and the 2000-block of Belmont. Officers deployed to the area, finding the forklift tipped over with the driver pinned underneath on Belmont Avenue.

Police say the suspect was taken into custody and transported to hospital to assess his injuries. The forklift was previously reported stolen from a nearby business. “Police are in the early stages of the investigation, which includes many witnesses and reports of parked vehicles being struck.

As such, no further details can be released at this time,” noted an emailed statement from VicPD.
