Summer Serenade concert series begins in Pitt Meadows Published 5:45 pm Saturday, July 11, 2026 The big band sounds of the Bruce James Orchestra kicked off the Summer Serenade concert series in Pitt Meadows on Wednesday evening, July 8. The outdoor theatre at Spirit Square was mostly full, with more than 200 people sitting in their lawn chairs and licking ice cream cones, getting a hot dog from the Lions Club’s mobile grill, and people were up dancing while the band played.

It’s the 16th year of the popular concert series, and it brought the sounds of saxophones, trombones, standup bass, and the rest of the 17-piece band. Mayor Nicole MacDonald opened the concert, noting it was a special night for city volunteers, as they got VIP seating, a free cone, and the mayor’s thanks. “We are deeply grateful for everything you do,” she said.

“Thank you for making Pitt Meadows the vibrant and caring community it is.” Each Wednesday of the summer, until and including Aug. 26, there will be concerts in the park at 11985 Harris Rd. Those attending are invited to bring a lawn chair, blanket, and snacks.

The concerts run from 7 to 9 p.m. The coming performers will be: July 15 – Moonliters Big Band July 22 – Retroactives July 29 – Scary Lizard Aug. 5 – Bruce James Orchestra Aug. 12 – Allegro Music Aug. 19 – Jazz Orchestra of the 49th Parallel Aug. 26 – Bruce James Orchestra In the event of rain, performances will be cancelled.

The Bruce James Orchestra website will be updated by 5:30 p.m. day of, notifying of any cancellation due to inclement weather.
