Summer vibes Thursday evenings at Boitanio Park Published 11:19 am Friday, July 17, 2026 Dozens of people recently gathered at Boitanio Park with lawn chairs for a Thursday evening of live music. It was the second Performances in the Park on July 16 with speakeasy jazz and jump blues by The Misery Mountain Boys from Peace River, Alta. starting at 6 p.m. at the Gwen Pharis Ringwood Outdoor Theatre.

Music continued until 8 p.m. with feature act Pharis and Jason Romero with Cole Patenaude and Max Malone. The Romeros are recipients of four Juno awards and seven Canadian Folk Music Awards while Patenaude is the foundational guitarist and songwriter for the Screech Owls. Malone is a bass player for the Lonesome Ace Stringband among many acts.

All four musicians call Horsefly, approximately 67 kilometres northeast of Williams Lake, home. The relatively warm evening had cooled a bit earlier from the day which Environment Canada noted reached 30.2 degrees Celsius at the Williams Lake Airport and set a new daily maximum temperature record in the Clinton and Dawson Creek areas. Throughout the evening hands-on creative activities for young audience members were available with several local food vendors also on site.

Performances in the Park continue every Thursday until Aug. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. Scheduled for July 23 is opening act West My Friend, a Cascadian folk duo from Victoria that has recently released their Independent Music Awards-nominated fourth album. Feature act will be award winning country-rock and roots artist Antonio Larosa based in Vancouver.
