Surgical services are back to normal at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge after two weeks of disruptions. Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) says both elective and emergency surgeries have resumed after the hospital’s chiller system was repaired and tested. When the system went out of service on July 1, surgeries were temporarily moved to Huntsville District Memorial Hospital so patients could continue receiving care.

“This rapid restoration of surgical services is a testament to the dedication, teamwork and commitment of everyone involved,” said Cheryl Harrison, President and CEO of Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare. Harrison thanked patients and families for their patience during the temporary disruption. Scheduled surgeries are now once again being performed at the Bracebridge hospital.

Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare is a multi-site health care organization that provides acute care services at the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge.
