Suspect arrested after man stabbed in downtown Halifax

One man was taken to hospital after a stabbing in downtown Halifax. Halifax Regional Police said they were called to the 5600 block of Spring Garden Road at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday and found a 50-year-old man suffering from a stab wound. The responding officers provided first aid until paramedics arrived.

The man was taken to hospital with injuries police said were not believed to be life-threatening. Investigators were able to identify a suspect and arrested a 30-year-old man at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday. He was being held in custody pending a court appearance.

Commenters on social media suggested that the victim worked at the Park Lane mall and said the stabbing happened on Brenton Street, which intersects with Spring Garden. The investigation is ongoing.
