The incidents happened in the areas of King and James streets, and the MacNab Street Transit Terminal. Hamilton Police said they responded to several reports of stabbings just after 2:10 p.m.

The circumstances surrounding the stabbings are unclear at this time, but police said four people sustained non-life-threatening injuries. On Tuesday, police identified the suspect as Oscar Ayala, of no fixed address, who is wanted on four counts of assault with a weapon. Police are asking anyone who sees Ayala to call them immediately, and avoid approaching him.

Investigators are asking witnesses or anyone with footage from the downtown core between 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to contact them.
