The bad news for T-Mobile customers just keeps coming. With the push to force legacy customers onto new plans, T-Mobile is also causing some customers to lose their long-standing free line promotions, which is resulting in unexpected charges. As we’ve reported already, T-Mobile has been moving users off of legacy plans like Magenta, ONE, and Simple Choice onto newer plans.

With this change, T-Mobile has promised existing perks would stay, and that includes free lines. But that assurance looks to be just talk, after several customers have reported that their first bill post-migration is lacking the promotional credits. Some customers are reportedly paying more than $300 per month for plans that included multiple free lines.

And that’s up from around $50. To say this is a small change is understating it, entirely. While others are just losing them entirely.

T-Mobile’s migration has been nothing but a headache Since T-Mobile announced the migration for older plans to these newer plans, there have been a ton of headaches, not only for T-Mobile but its customers as well. T-Mobile has walked back its “Price Lock Guarantee,” which said they wouldn’t raise prices, and then raised prices. This has forced a lot of customers, many of whom have been with T-Mobile for a decade or more, to switch carriers.

Now seeing that all of these “free” lines that were given out over the years are disappearing, or no longer getting their credits, makes this even worse. And this is on top of charging over 8 million customers around $6 more per month, per line. Which really adds up.

T-Mobile is truly ripping out its “Uncarrier” motto with every move it makes. And it won’t be surprising to see a huge churn when T-Mobile reports its earnings next quarter. The carrier is really giving customers no reason to stick with T-Mobile, especially when AT&T and Verizon are better, according to Ookla’s latest report.
