Target is recalling roughly 211,000 pairs of children's sandals after decorative pearls on the shoes were found to pose a choking hazard that could result in serious injury or death. The recall, announced July 16 by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, involves Cat & Jack sandals sold at Target stores nationwide and online earlier this year. According to the recall notice, the sandals' decorative plastic pearls can detach from the shoe, creating a choking hazard for young children.

Target has received 23 reports of pearls falling off the sandals. No injuries have been reported. Here's what to know about the recall, including how to identify the affected shoes and what consumers should do.

The Cat & Jack brand name is printed on the sole of the sandals. The recalled shoes were sold in children's sizes 5T through 12T. The recalled sandals were sold from January through May 2026 for about $20. What should consumers do?

Consumers should stop using the recalled sandals immediately, take them away from children and contact Target for a full refund. Customers can return the sandals to any Target store or use a prepaid shipping label to mail them back for a refund.
