Temporary service disruption at South Okanagan Hospital’s emergency department Published 12:34 pm Sunday, July 12, 2026 South Okanagan General Hospital’s emergency department is facing a temporary interruption in its hours. “Emergency services will be unavailable from 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 12 to 7 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026,” reads the hospital’s press release. The hospital advised patients to access emergency care through the Penticton Regional Hospital during this time.
Regular inpatient services will continue at the South Okanagan General Hospital. “People in the community who need life-threatening emergency care (i.e., chest pains, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding) should always call 911 for transport to the nearest available and appropriate facility.”
