Two rescued from northwest London ravine

The condition of the two people was not immediately known.

Two people were rescued from a ravine in northwest London on Wednesday night, fire officials say. Emergency crews were called just before 10 p.m. to Doncaster Gate, near Medway Valley Heritage Forest. One person walked out of the ravine, while firefighters used a basket to extricate the other, the London Fire Department said in a social media post Thursday morning.

The condition of the two people was not immediately known. Debris, arson on rail line under investigation A series of incidents involving debris, vandalism and arson along Windsor railway tracks has prompted a police investigation. Windsor police say investigators have responded to 12 incidents involving railway infrastructure since January.

Most occurred between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. along the rail corridor between George Avenue and Pillette Road. Police say the incidents caused significant delays for passengers and created a serious risk of derailment or an emergency stop that could have resulted in serious injury or death. Investigators highlighted two incidents as part of the ongoing investigation.

Then, shortly before midnight on June 26, someone deliberately set a fire on the railway tracks. “Tampering with railway tracks or setting fires near railway infrastructure can have devastating consequences,” Insp.
