The University of Illinois Extension will hold an Insects Up Close: Collecting, Pinning, and Preservation program for residents from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 8, at Nell’s Woodland, 2000 Alexis Ave., Ottawa.

The University of Illinois Extension will hold an Insects Up Close: Collecting, Pinning, and Preservation program for residents from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 8, at Nell’s Woodland, 2000 Alexis Ave., Ottawa. Attendees will be able to learn about the purpose and practice, how to preserve specimens for long-term study, which insects to collect and considerations to minimize insect population impact. Participants can also view an insect collection and insect pinning and specimen preparation demonstration The program also includes an outdoor basic insect collection techniques demonstration, weather and time permitting.

Registration is required. To register, visit go.illinois.edu/InsectsUpClose . Early accommodation requests for access needs are encouraged.
