Witnesses report black plume of smoke on Quince Street

All three emergency services responded to a fire on the 2300 block of Quince Street on the early afternoon of Tuesday, July 14. When The Citizen arrived on scene around 2:20 p.m., there were four fire engines, an ambulance and at least three RCMP vehicles on scene. Though there was no evidence of a fire at that time, people on the street said they’d seen a black plume of smoke emanating from a property 30 to 40 minutes before then.

Reporters could not get close enough to the property to see the extent of any damage done. Police officers confirmed it was a house fire and that the ambulance had been sent as part of response protocols but directed other inquiries to the local RCMP detachment’s media relations team. Jennifer Cooper said the RCMP were supporting Prince George Fire Rescue's efforts to put out the fire but that it was too early to comment further. This story, which includes files from Matthew Hillier, will be updated once new information is received.
