Youths in stolen car hit pedestrian before being captured in Huntsville, Ont.

The OPP will not release the names of the accused under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

Just after 5 p.m. Sunday, Huntsville police got a report that a stolen vehicle from Barrie was possibly on its way to Gravenhurst. Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) enlisted the OPP aviation services but were unable to locate the vehicle. Barrie police confirm the car is believed to have been taken from a Johnson Street parking lot around 4 p.m.

Multiple units were called in on a Be On the Look Out (BOLO) from Orillia, Bracebridge and Huntsville responded to the northbound Highway 11 area. Police found the car in Huntsville after it had struck a pedestrian before fleeing the scene. The pedestrian was brought to hospital with minor injuries.

Police found the stolen vehicle abandoned on Ravenscliffe Road in Huntsville at around 8 p.m. After an extensive search, two teenagers were found and arrested.
