I was born and raised in Alberta and lived there for the first 38 years of my life before marriage moved me to BC. Family remains in Alberta and I travel back multiple times each year, and I grieve for elements of the division I see in my home province. At times, from the outside, I don’t recognize it anymore and am grateful to access responsible, balanced journalism, rather than the just the Facebook pages of informationally bubbled relatives. I see astounding entitlement in some Albertans, who just happen to be born or live in proximity to natural resources under the ground, where it becomes some form of birthright for special benefits, rather than a Canadian resource for the betterment of the country.
