ASIRT investigating death of man who went over High Level Bridge in Lethbridge Posted Jul 14, 2026 4:16 pm. Last Updated Jul 14, 2026 4:26 pm. Alberta’s police watchdog is investigating after a man fell to his death during an encounter with police on the High Level Bridge in Lethbridge.
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) says police were called to the bridge on Sunday for reports of a man on the structure. Three officers responded, according to ASIRT, and one officer approached the man. During that interaction the man moved away and went over the bridge.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were hurt. ASIRT investigators arrived in Lethbridge on Tuesday.
The investigation is ongoing. ASIRT is called in to investigate any interaction involving police that results in serious injury or death.
