Belleville firefighters quickly distinguish a fully involved garage blaze

The garage was fully involved with two homes on each side only steps away.

Article content City firefighters made quick work of a garage fire that broke out Thursday afternoon in Belleville. Belleville Fire and Emergency Services personnel were dispatched after a call for assistance came in at 1:32 p.m. Recommended Videos When firefighters arrived, they were presented with a blaze burning through the roof of a detached garage between two homes in the 100 block of Montgomery Boulevard.

The garage was fully involved with two homes on each side only steps away. “Firefighters made a rapid attack and brought the blaze under control in minutes and prevented any damage to either home,” said Deputy Chief Mark Shannon. The elderly residents of one home were evacuated for precaution and no injuries were reported.

Fire prevention is on scene to determine a cause. Firefighters are also completing the scene overhaul looking for hotspots. No damage estimate was available at press time.
